Backwards compatibility with J3.0

In 3.0 I need to modify my MVC classes to use the Legacy structures introduced with the latest platform update. I know these are backwards compatible to 2.6. How do I build an MVC component which is compatible with both 1.6 and 3.0? Is it possible?

Version 1.6 is way out of support and anything you wrote for 1.6
should work seamlessly in 2.5.6. So I would strongly encourage you to
move from 1.6 to 2.5.6. Mark
