booking components?

Hello there.

In my site, I want to give users the ability to book certain vehicles like bicycle, canoe, cayak etc. (sports vehicles) or book seats for sports trips. So what I'm looking is a simple form from which the user can select dates enter his name and made the reservation.

Do you have any ideas? Should I use a component or could I just build the items as normal joomla articles and just insert a form in those? I've seen the ARTIO booking may be good for me but I had some problems installing it.
