Title says it all. I often want let my clients to be able set their sites
offline or change the name of the website, but I don't want them to be able
to change any other global configuration. I hope there are more developer
who want this to change in joomla.

Also  to allow global checking would be cool, because now if you set user
not to global admin he is not allow to set global checkins

You can make a plugin and/or make a template override for com_config with
more advanced business rules (i.e. give admins access to com_config but
block specific fields).

I think the checkin issue might be in the tracker, it sounds familiar.

Thanks Elin, will do template overide,  but still it would be nice to have
that out of the box :)
