Default language bug?

Guys, just wanted to ask if you folks have seen this bug. Basically, we have an uni-language sites with english shown as the Default in the language manager (the "star" icon displays indicating that EN is the default). However, when we query the default language from the Joomla framework, an empty string is returned. 

Selecting EN and clicking the "Default" button in the toolbar fixes the issue entirely. So basically its an issue where (i) the default language is not during install and (ii) the default icon displays when it should not. 

I have received confirmation from one other dev but thought I'd post here to see if others have noticed this before going to the bug squad.
