Shib Login Module and Plugin help please

Hello Community,

This is my first time using a joomla list serv. =) if it is the incorrect one please direct me to the correct one. thanks.

I'm working on extending some shibboleth modules and a plugin.  I have phase one working which is a simple login.  now I have to extend it more (yeah...the boss...) so that if it auto creates the account, it will then redirect the user to a url if the admin has specified one. I got my echos to work in the correct order and everything to verify that my logic is being triggered correctly.  it gets crazy things when I add the redirection.  i'm not sure what is going on.  caching seems to be an issue some times, sometimes it just does not do anything i just added...etc.

To answer why another login is that we are using shibboleth and some SSO packages out there are too much.  we need one that does 1 thing and 1 thing only so we can hand it to who ever needs it and it just works. We would like to make it so that a graduate student can get the file, install, change the parameters and there you go.

So I am asking if anyone would be interested in helping me out a little/mentor me on a better way of doing it?  I've been using joomla for several years but now I'm positioning myself to do more than "just make it run".  I also have several years of unstructured/making up my own frameworks in php. (so learning joomla and the idea of working with in the boundary provided. much easier once you get the hang of it).  I am also working with asp.net.
