Hello!

I hope I post this in the right group.

1.more screen during installation with a mini (myphpadmin) were I can
choose my own table to be loaded with sample data. Can that be done?

Hi. I think this could be very helpful. I'm not sure the best way for this to work. One way would be to have a folder where you could put .sql files and have Joomla! list these files. Or perhaps have an XML file that lists the sample data files and locations.

This would tie in nicely with a project I would like to see done, which would be to have sample sites done as "starter" websites for different situations. For example, a sample church website with things like "put minister's picture here". And maybe a sample retail store site or restaurant site. Those of use who are already familiar with websites and Joomla! tend to think that this type of thing is not important. But to people who are new to websites and Joomla!, having something to start with, even if it is very basic and simple, makes it a lot easier and more inviting. This could be a great project for less experienced people in the community to work on, and it could start with just a small number of sample data sets and grow over time.

Also, there is no reason this has to wait for 1.7. If we don't get the sample data "picker" functionality in 1.6, we could still do this as an extension or just as stand-alone sql scripts that replace the sample data.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Mark

It's a very good idea indeed. It took me a lot of time to understand
the power of joomla, as the sample data, the sample template, and a
lot of free template are all of the same type : computer website.
