December 14, 2009 Today is Day 1

SAT WORD OF THE DAY:
anecdote (noun) A short biographical story, often amusing.


Test Table: Closed period 4.

Computer Lab: Closed today and tomorrow.

College & Careers: Tomorrow at 11:00, a former JJ student who is
attending Ohio State University will be here. Interested students
need to get permission from their teacher.

ID Pictures and Retakes: Wednesday, December 16th in the auditorium
during lunch, study hall, or immediately after school. This date is
only for students who did not sit for the last retake day.

Orphanage Gift Drive: If you have signed up to donate a gift to Astor
Home Orphanage, please remember the due date is Thursday, December
17th. Gifts must be unwrapped and brought to room 143.


CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Math Honor Society: Meeting today at 2:00 in room 128.

Italian Honor Society: Bake sale and meeting tomorrow. Please
remember your contribution for our adopted family and t-shirt orders.

Science Olympiad: General meeting for all members tomorrow.

Interact: All members must pick up a flier for the Grace Smith House
in the main office today. Gifts must be in tomorrow.

Proscenium: Auditions for male roles in Titanic will be Wednesday,
December 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Please see a proscenium
member or the website for more info.

Student Congress: Full student congress meeting on Wednesday in room
229.

Radio Club: Hosting a Tim Burton Movie Night on Friday in room128,
from 4:30 to 9:30. Tickets on sale beginning Wednesday for $2.00
during all lunch periods.

Spanish Honor Society: We invite everyone to write letters to Santa.
Letter formats and drop off box are in the main office. Each letter
donates $1.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Debate Club: Congratulations to the JJ Debate Club for an overall
outstanding performance at the Arlington Model Congress. Special
recognition was given to Ian Guthoff, Steven Vinci, and Greg Totino
for their distinguished and outstanding debate skills.


SPORTS

Congratulations: To Poughkeepsie Journal Players of the Year, Jade
Dennet, Samantha McGuire, and Kristen Turi; and Coaches of the Year,
Barbara Deppe and Darryl Sullivan.

December 15, 2009 Today is Day 2

SAT WORD OF THE DAY:
apathetic (adj) Without feeling; lacking interest or emotion.


Computer Lab: Closed today.

Sports Physicals: If you are scheduled for a physical today, please
be on time.

College & Careers:
- A former JJ student who is attending Ohio State University will be
here today. Interested students need to get permission from their

- Columbia University is currently taking applications for their
Science Honors Program. Applicants must be current 9th, 10th, or 11th
grade students with a strong interest in science and math. Info in
the C&C room.

7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

Multicultural Club: Meeting tomorrow at 2:00 in room 107. Please
