Good Day Fellow Pirates
The Club Draw was very well attended and thanks to everyone who made the
effort to be there. The money was not won so it is up to R3000.00 in
February. So make sure you are here to win some money. The next Club Draw
will be on Friday 2nd March at 18h30.
Come down to the Club this weekend to watch some good Six Nations Rugby -
yes rugby again and it starts this weekend.
The matches scheduled for Saturday are:
France vs Italy at 16h30
Scotland vs England at 19h00
And Sunday
Ireland vs Wales at 17h00
PIRATES 'OVER THE MOUNTAIN' 21KM RACE - 19TH FEBRUARY
The Road Running Section have done fantastic work and managed to secure a
wonderful sponsor for their Annual 'Flagship' 21km
Race on the 19th February
Nestle Pure Water are the new official sponsors of this race and the runners
are in for a real treat.
Every finisher will receive a T-shirt, medal and a 750ml Sports cap Bottle
of water
The cost is R60.00 to enter so please encourage all your friends to enter as
this will be a great day at Pirates
The members are ALL encouraged to help make this race as professional as
possible. The Road Runners just cannot do all the marshalling, water
tables, entry tables and finish tables all on their own so they rely on the
other sections to help them. Please can you make yourselves available to
help by contacting Hennie Booysen on 082 801 0924 and offer your help as
that makes it so much easier for them if people offer. Looking forward to
some great Pirates spirit by making this a Road Race to remember
The Cocktail Party is being held on Tuesday 7th February in the Old Bones -
all road runners and helpers are welcome. Offer your help and come to the
Cocktail Party.
PIRATES FUN BOWLS DAY - WEDNESDAY 21ST MARCH
This is an event for ALL Pirates members even if you have never played Bowls
in your life before - so join in the fun and meet members from other
sections and have a good laugh
The cost will be R50.00 per player - we will require teams of 4 - this will
include your green fees and few special shooters on the course during the
morning
The day will start at 09h00 with registration and sorting out of teams and
we will be on the greens by 09h30.
The only dress code which MUST be adhered to is flat shoes please.

PIRATES SHOP
The Pirates Shop is under new Management
I must start by apologizing for it not being open which caused much
inconvenience with our new members.
The good news is that the Shop will be open on Saturday 4th February. The
new owner is Matthew Woodroffe
Matthew has experience in running the Club Shop at Johannesburg Country Club
so we are comfortable that despite the early teething problems that we will
go from strength to strength and we appeal to all our members to support the
shop/
BOWLS GOLF DAY - Friday 9th march
Pirates Bowls Club is holding a Golf Day on Friday 9th March at Parkview
Golf Club
The cost is R1600.00 per 4-ball which is a fantastic price for golf these
days.

Once again it gives me pleasure to thank another member who has the club at
heart and wants to keep the place looking good.
Thank you Ian Benson for the fantastic stainless steel "corners' which he
donated and put up for us in the Main Bar. I am sure many of you noticed
that they had big holes in them and were such an eye-sore. They now look
fantastic and it has made such a difference to the whole look of the Main
Bar.

* The Club is looking for part-time barman/lady to work on Saturdays
(sometimes in the day and sometimes in the evening) but we will require
someone every Saturday's and will be called on at other times when the Club
is busy. We would ideally like a member's son or daughter who is looking
for extra money. Reliability and honesty are a pre-requiste. We will

* Does anyone know where we can get some nice solid, break-proof bar
stools and tables? The Club is always short of these and we would like to
purchase some more for the Club. Please let Non know if you know of a
company who sells/makes them so we can start getting prices. Ideally we
would like an Auction place but help is required for this please. Thanks
* The Club is looking to fix the fencing from the Pigeon House to the
Dump to stop cars driving in - we would like to use the money raised from
the Golf Day. I need a contact please does anyone know of a company that I
can approach to do this for us.
