Will Jobsworth run on shared hosting? Heart Internet imparticular

Hello,

I have had a look through the group to try and find out if anyone is
running jobsworth on shared internet hosting, but can't see any posts
about it.

I have hosting with Heart Internet and would like to use Jobsworth. I
know it has Ruby on Rails, but I am not sure that the other
requirements are being met.

Any advice on if it will run on web hosting packages, would be
gratefully received.

There is no reason it will not run on a shared host. It will not run on Heroku though because Heroku does not let you save files to disk and jobsworth relies on that for saving attachments.

Hi Tim,

How did you get on? I'd like to try on JustHost, but before that, two related questions:
1) The install instructions reads "run this command as the same user your Apache httpd server runs as". That will probbaly not be possible on a hosted server - any workarounds?
2) Is there any way to install Jobsworth without having shell access (costs extra).

If it helps, JustHost is using cpanel, and I seem to have gotten passenger installed.

That has to do with the way passenger works. You can get passenger to run as a different user and that is fine.
