Research Analyst – The Atlas Project

We are providing political campaigns and progressive organizations with a baseline set of information to work from – helping them learn from the past to ensure more progressive victories in the future.

Research Analyst

The Research Analyst is a permanent position responsible for conducting media monitoring and high -level political research for our clients. This position is a part of the Atlas Project team consulting for Service Employees International Union. The Research Analyst will fulfill research projects and daily media monitoring duties for multiple departments at SEIU.

 

The Research Analyst must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to incoming requests in a timely manner. The analyst will conduct extensive legislative and issue-based research and author concise reports and memos. In addition, the analyst will compile daily media monitoring reports (clips), provide rapid response support, and fact check paid communications.  

 

 

Responsibilities Include:

·         Compile morning and afternoon news clips;

·         Develop and author research reports on 2012 political landscape and issues related to the labor movement;

·         Fact check materials, including electoral reports and paid communications;

·         Assist media monitoring operation that tracks traditional and new media outlets, both nationally and in targeted states;

·         Compile standard electoral data, including polling data; election results; candidate background information; campaign finance data; ballot initiatives, filing deadlines/qualifications, poll watching.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Prior research experience required.

·         Excellent research and writing skills.

·         1 cycle of political communications or research experience required.

·         Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.

·         Ability to work collaboratively as a member of our fast-paced team.

·         High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
