Description of Position
The web strategist is responsible for determining the online strategy
and maintaining all online operations for The Opportunity Agenda. The
web strategist reports to the Communications Director.
Responsibilities include:
Website
* Maintains and develops the organization’s website, keeping it up
to date and dynamic.
* Plans and oversees the redesign of the organization’s website,
www.opportunityagenda.org; provides ongoing maintenance for site.
* Builds and maintains project-based websites, web areas, and the
organization’s blog.
* Builds and maintains social networking presence, including
through YouTube and Facebook.
* Manages relationships with web vendors and consultants.
Database/Content Management Systems
* Possesses familiarity and facility with DRUPAL and CIVICRM-based
CRM systems or their equivalents.
Technical Support and Assistance
* Possesses knowledge and experience with MAC and PC technology.
* Provides video and production assistance at events.
Online Advocacy
* Determines and executes the web strategy for The Opportunity
Agenda’s diverse program areas including Economic Opportunity,
Immigration, Reproductive Justice, LGBT and Racial Equity, and Black
Male Achievement.
* Maintains the organization’s online presence and effectiveness.
* Monitors online social justice and progressive activism to
determine opportunities for engagement and identify potential
partnerships and strategies.
* Monitors and devises strategies to increase the organization’s
online growth.
* Schedules, composes, and sends the organization’s e-newsletters
and e-blasts.
* Advises the organization on best practices and state of the art
online techniques
* Develops and implements mechanisms to evaluate the
organization’s online presence.
Advising Partners and Capacity Building
* Advises partner organizations on developing and adopting online
strategies.
* Develops and presents trainings on online strategies for partner
groups.
* Represents the organization at events and trainings.
Administrative/Internal Communications Needs
* Assists in recruiting and managing consultants and interns.
* Provides internal training on basic web strategies and blogging.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor’s degree in web strategy, communications, or equivalent
experience and skill set.
* A minimum five years combined experience in Internet
communications systems, and communications strategy, with some
exposure to the nonprofit sector.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of website design and maintenance.
* Experience in the strategic use of social media.
* Familiar with content management systems such as Drupal and
CiviCRM-based constituent relationship management (CRM) systems or
their equivalents.
* Knowledge and experience with MAC and PC technology.
* Knowledge and experience with social networking media.
* Ability to create, manage, and monitor web tools and strategies.
* Ability to create PowerPoint and other presentations using state
of the art technology and techniques.
* Excellent written and verbal communications.
* Excellent basic online research skills.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with
diverse audiences and organizational partners.
* Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
and meet deadlines.
* Commitment to social justice and strong working knowledge of
social justice issues and organizations.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and within a
team.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
* Spanish language skills a plus.
* A sense of humor.

The salary range for this position will be determined based on
