Position Description:
The Mack|Crounse Group, a leading Democratic direct mail firm, is seeking political writers for the 2012 election cycle. Writers will have the opportunity to write direct mail copy for Democratic candidates on the local, state and federal levels, and for leading unions and progressive organizations. In addition to working for an exceptional client list, writers will gain invaluable experience and important contacts by working side-by-side with our top strategists. The ideal candidate will have campaign experience in Democratic/progressive politics and/or political writing experience.
Responsibilities:
- Write and create messaging for some of the top races in the country during the 2012 election cycle
- Perform in-depth research on candidates, parties, organizations, and political issues and trends
- Provide support to the creative team to achieve high-quality writing and design
- Proofread and edit direct mail pieces
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, History, English, Marketing, or a related field
- Exceptional writing and research skills
- Ability to convey ideas in an extremely concise fashion
- Interest and experience in Democratic/progressive campaigns and/or political communication
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work long hours during peak periods
- Reliable transportation (a car is preferred, but Metro access is acceptable)
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Compensation will include a base salary and the opportunity for a discretionary bonus.
