Groundswell makes clean energy services more affordable for individuals and community groups and creates local economic opportunity in the process. Through two programs, the Community Power Project and the Strong Homes Program, Groundswell brings together communities by linking mission-based organizations, membership groups and other civic networks interested in efficiency or clean energy upgrades. To increase their purchasing power, Groundswell bundles the demand for clean energy, and local businesses compete for the purchasing groups’ business. Community members select a business for their project based on three core criteria: cost savings, environmental impact and community benefit.
