If it’s a newsletter, it must be an occasion – in this case, the
release of a new books. As I’m only doing one a year these days, that
does make it a big deal, I think.

Another big deal – a scary one at least – is that my publisher has
made a video of me talking about the book.

It was a real filming session, with a producer, make up people rushing
in to powder off sweat, and the person who snaps the clapper board and
says “take ten” or whatever. I think it turned out remarkably well,
but then, I was there for about an hour and they’ve picked the best 2
minutes!

A Scandalous Countess has already been sighted and bought in a few
places, but the official release date is Tuesday the 7th. It's turned
up earlier in print, but that’s when you can get it for your e-reader
of choice, if that’s how you’re enjoying books these days. I have a
Kindle, and I do appreciate it when traveling, but I confess to still
preferring paper books as long as the type is big enough for me.

If you're in Britain, you're unlikely to see the book on the shelves,
but it's readily available on line from Amazon to Waterstones.
Elsewhere? Remember, The Book Depository ships anywhere in the world
for free.

A Scandalous Countess follows on from An Unlikely Countess, but only
in the slightest way. The heroine is a sister of Perry Perriam (I know
many of you enjoyed him) so he does turn up later in the book, when he
returns from his Yorkshire adventures.

A Scandalous Countess actually opens the year before, 1764, when
Georgia, Countess of Maybury, is woken to be told that her husband has
been killed in a duel. She’s shocked as well as grief-stricken, for he
was very easy-going. To make matters worse, rumors are spreading that
the duel was fought over her, and that the victor was her lover. She
suffers another blow when she realizes that because she and her
husband have no child, no heir, nearly everything, including the bed
she’s sleeping in, now belongs to the new Earl of Maybury.

As the hero thinks later, she’s evicted from her homes as ruthlessly
as a farm laborer from a tied cottage.

Mourning over, Georgia sets out to restore her reputation and regain
her place in society through another grand marriage. Her new friend,
Lord Dracy, helps with the first, but he’s an impediment to the second
as she likes him all too much. Grand, he’s not. Until recently he was
a Lieutenant in the navy, and the estate he’s inherited with his title
is impoverished and in a dreadful state.

I hope you enjoy their developing relationship and adventures.

Again, more nearer the time.

We’re at the end of our usual winter break in Spain, though winter has
come and found us here the past few days. It’s sunny, but it’s cold!
However, we also took a cruise out of Malaga to the Canaries. You may
enjoy a few photos of our trips and our very lovely suite on the
Norwegian Jade.

And lastly, as I shared with you earlier, there is an excerpt from A
Scandalous Countess on my web page. http://www.jobev.com/ascancexc.html

A Scandalous Countess has received excellent reviews and is a Romantic
Times “top pick.” I hope you, too, thoroughly enjoy it.

All best wishes,
