to LINQ for Java
Roadmap
--------------

(1) Collect supporters in this group

(2) Start the LINQ-for-Java Open Source project
(probably using the Google Code hosting system)

(3) Implement a free (as in freedom) prototype

(4) Promote LINQ-for-Java with key industry players

(5) File a Java JSR

(6) Create a reference implementation

(7) Promote LINQ-for-Java as the standard database access
layer for Java

I assume you are aware of Anders Norås and his very related Quaere
project?
http://andersnoras.com/blogs/anoras/archive/2007/09/11/introducing-quaere-language-integrated-queryies-for-java.aspx

Also, taking on LINQ is a pretty big job in a conservative language
like Java. We are going to need what many in Java deem "kitchen sink
features" unless of course we are talking about a very rudimentary
version a la Quaere using only Java6 features.

Super great idea though, it's high time to bring some simplicity into
Java's framework hell.

Hi,

Quaere is nice, but misses true language integration of LINQ. .NET
guys had to add properties and closures to support LINQ, so probably
the same is true for Java. I think OpenJDK may be a good place to
start, and if not, perhaps Kijaro - then existing closure
implementation can be leveraged (BGGA, or CICE); also it may help the
JSR, when it is filed.
