Hi all,
This message is for all CFF mentoring program participants.
We had the opening session of the program yesterday. Varun was there,
and he told you all about contributing a doc and the general procedure
of the contest. If you did not attend the opening session, I have
written the exact steps at the end of this mail..
Here are some wiki-pages connected with the mentoring program:
-> We have put up a page "[CFF] Contribution Ideas". This page enlists
all contribution ideas for Netbeans plugins as well as community docs.
We have compiled a list of our plugin ideas and the Netbeans Plugin
Community wishlist. A couple of 2nd yearites had come to me to discuss
their ideas. I have put up their ideas in the list too. Please share
your ideas here.
-> Once you've decided the project / doc you want to work on, add and
maintain your project status (idea, status, mentor, etc.) over here:
http://groups.google.com/group/jiitsunclub/web/cff-contribution-status-page
-> And once you've made your contribution (and submitted it), tell us
and we'll add it to this page:
http://groups.google.com/group/jiitsunclub/web/cff-contribution-status-page

STEPS TO CONTRIBUTE
1. Read the general rules of the contest here:
http://in.sun.com/communities/univ/codeforfreedom/rules.html
http://in.sun.com/communities/univ/codeforfreedom/faq.html
2. Register for the contest at this page:
http://www2.sun.de/dct/forms/reg_in_1308_649_0.jsp
-> You may participate in teams of 2 or just yourself
-> You CAN be part of 2 or more teams submitting different
contributions
3. If you want a mentor from Sun, you'll have to compile and run
netbeans from source. Here's a good article to help you do that:
http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/WorkingWithNetBeansSources.
Feel free to contact us if you're having any trouble. After building
netbeans, go here to request for a mentor from Sun:
http://www2.sun.de/dct/forms/reg_in_0810_513_0.jsp
4. Read and understand these intructions (and in turn, the page it
links to) thoroughly (for any netbeans contribution - bug fixes,
plugins or docs):
http://in.sun.com/communities/univ/codeforfreedom/netbeans.html
5. If you want to make a plugin, drop in your proposal to the netbeans
developer community mailing list:
nb...@netbeans.org. They will help
evolve your idea, give you suggestions or tell you if the plugin
already exists or not.
6. You need to sign a Sun Contributor Agreement in order to contribute
any plugin, bug fix or even a doc to the netbeans wiki.
*We will distribute the SCA document in our Plugins Workshop on
Wednesday*
7. Submit your contribution here:
