Hello, my friends... Don Jibaro here, touching bases... because "outta sight, outta mind" and I'd not jeopardize the exciting bond we share. Lots have gone on after my last missive. For me, being 5,000 miles from the island that saw me at birth, is a delicate element... more than citizenship. It is spiritual and emotional. ¡Why else would I cry when I think about it? The good side of that coin is that the Diáspora is always coming up with ways to unite us... a club, a parade, a lunch, a potluck? a festival?  ¡Yesss! Friendships and fans are like vegetables... you gotta "harvest" them. So, how do you harvest them? YOU FEED their souls, OB1... !!!   2009 Cuatro Festival Rocks San Diego, CA “Yo conozco el Buey Que Faja y La Víbora Que Pica.” —Tio Genaro   This is my best cuatro. (Mmm... like a guitar but with 10 strings) There's a larger picture here: http://jibaros.com/art2009/4map1.jpg DIG THIS.... besides the ancient lyre, the cuatro is the only instrument I know that has 10 strings. "Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with  the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings." (Psalms 33:2)   FYI... I live in Los Angeles, CA... but attended the 2nd Annual Cuatro Festival in San Diego, about 160 miles south of L.A. The excitement of a celebration to a real Puerto Rican cultural event in California is always a stream in the desert, for the 140,000+ of us in California.
