The Boston Jewish Film Festival is presenting a new kind of festival – REELAbilitiesBOSTON Film Festival – with 6 films about disabilities from Feb. 2-8 in the greater Boston area.
Disabilities know no ethnic or religious boundaries, and particularly during Jewish Disabilities Awareness Month, we felt that it made perfect sense to host the Festival and increase awareness in the entire community about disabilities issues.
Films include My Spectacular Theatre (Feb. 2 at Perkins School, Watertown), War Eagle, Arkansas (Feb. 4 at Arlington Capitol Theatre); Shooting Beauty (Feb. 5 at MFA); Snow Cake (Feb. 5 at MFA); Warrior Champions (Feb. 7 at West Newton Cinema) and Anita (Feb. 8, West Newton Cinema).
Anita was shown at the BJFF 2010 Festival. All films are intended for a general audience. Some are documentaries, some feature-length. My Spectacular Theater is from China, Anita is from Argentina Speakers will talk after the Shooting Beauty and Warrior Champions screenings.
Films are $10 general admission, $9 for seniors, students and members of the MFA, Coolidge Corner Theatre and WGBH; $6 for groups of at least 10 people attending the same film. Those with disabilities are free, although we want to know in advance if you are coming.
Since this is the first time in particular, we are reaching out as much as we can to spread the word. If you know of other list serves, groups, people who might be interested, PLEASE tell them..
