“I think Vernon Gholston, their top pick, is overrated. Keller will be a
nice player, but he was taken too high.”

San Jose State CB Dwight Lowery led the nation in interceptions in 2006, but
a broken jaw slowed him down last season.

No RB or WR help for a team torn down to its foundations.

Still have some issues at running back and receiver, but two impact players

only six selections.

Vernon Gholston is a prototype 3-4 outside linebacker, but his inconsistent
effort won’t fly in New York. The Jets needed another playmaker on offense,
and choose Dustin Keller over any wide receiver. He reminds us a lot of Ben
Watson. Fifth-round Tennessee QB Erik Ainge is a developmental prospect.
le thing that’s happening here. If the Jets are the ones coming to him
making promises and then not delivering, then that’s a petty and unethical
way for Tannenbaum to do business. What’s not mentioned is when the Jets
promised to re-do these deals. It seems to me that the expectation should be
set well in advance with players that they’ll be done when the team can
afford to, but to not expect anything before the last year of the deal. If
not mistaken, Baker has two years left on his deal.
I understand Baker’s frustration, but he needs to cool down for the next
few days. The Jets were in lockdown over the draft, and have just finished
that, but they are still looking to sign plenty of undrafted free agents. Up
until last Thursday, D-Rob was still a part of the team, so now the team has
money that it didn’t previously have to re-do Baker’s deal.

by Bassett
Popout
Although it’s something of a fluff piece for Tennessee’s Phillip Fulmer
Show, here’s a quick look into Erik Ainge and what he’s about.
Although we Jets fans would consider ourselves passionate, the scrutiny that
Ainge would have in New York would pale in comparison to being in Knoxville.
Although I was hoping for Josh Johnson, Ainge is a competitor and will fit
right in with Pennington and Clemens in terms of work ethic and demeanor.

12:03 PM (11 hours ago)Jets Sign RB Jehuu Caulcrickfrom thejetsblog.com by
Bassett
The Jets have signed another Running Back. Jehuu Caulcrick (6′0″ 255 lbs)
was formerly a Michigan State Spartan RB, who was used in goal line
situations for the team, totalling 21 touchdowns in his senior campaign.
The Jets were one of five teams who were interested in signing Caulcrick as
an undrafted free agent after the running back was not selected tin he seven
rounds of the draft. The other calls Caulcrick fielded were from the Buffalo
Bills, the Carolina Panthers, the St. Louis Rams and the Indianapolis Colts.
“Carolina and the Jets showed the biggest interest,” Caulcrick said. ”I
talked to the Bills, but the circumstances weren’t right.”
He’s the fullback type, and he’s the thumper style player that Mangini
likes. All the same, with Tony Richardson in place, Caulcrick might be
someone who the Jets will use this summer, and might have an outside shot at
competing for a spot with Stacy Tutt.
