Hello,
I do not remember me telling Jim that he had to repent of certain view
points before re-entering the group since he was a co-owner, but I did
tell him that if he cast himself out of his own news group that it
would be like Christ committing suicide (my point was that for Jim to
remove himself from proclaiming the gospel on his own news group was
like crucifying himself). If you read the posts carefully no one
crucified Jim T, but everyone dug in to scriptural teaching about what
God’s views had been regarding the advice of a certain Baptist
minister that I never identified to the news group as Jim T (we
actually have several Baptist ministers that read this group).
Nevertheless Jim T was convinced that I was talking about him, and
that is why he replied the way that he did and he as mush as confessed
that it was him that I was talking about (it could or could not have
been him that I was talking about).
Also if you read the posts carefully, then you can identify that the
woman whom I was helping whom was crippled and pregnant matched the
description of Jim T’s ex-wife whom apparently could have been
physically at the setting that I found the woman in. I did not know
that this woman could have been the ex-wife of Jim T when I found her
and helped her, and I did not know that this woman could have been the
ex-wife of Jim T when I communicated to the news group the details of
the strong stance of a certain Baptist minister. Overall, I was
hoping to use the news group discussion in order to stimulate good
exchange regarding such theological points that this particular
Baptist minister had, but unfortunately the entire situation got out
of hand very quickly.
I held firm in my position and I visited Jim T in his apartment late
at night alone after the problem got to its highest point, and he
greeted me in the casual appearance of his bath robe and we spoke for
some time. Jim was friendly and he told me about how his senior
pastor (just I think a few days prior to the homeless woman incident)
invited many Baptist ministers to the church in order that they may
question him and ordain him into ministry of, "I believe that
particular congregation specifically", and I remember seeing all the
signatures on a paper that he had on his wall showing this (he was
ordained years prior to this as well to my understanding). Overall,
Jim T told me that day that I must remove him from the news group (he
did not know how to use the Google group controls to do it himself).
Jim T and I according to my memory hugged each other that day, but I
hardly ever saw Jim T again after that. A few months ago I visited
Carbondale again in order to check the status of my property, and I
visited Jim T at the same time by attending his church service
unannounced. Jim explained that during the inland hurricane he was
living at the church, but he praised God publicly that God give him
his bad leg that required him to use crutches because he was able to
move out of the church and into government housing (this is the same
man that said that when the poor hold out their hand that we should
place within it the gospel).
Jim no longer goes to school at SIU, and I am told from his church
that he no longer has as much time at the pulpit these days. Jim
really in a lot of ways had accomplished the challenge of
understanding the simplicity of the scripture and is able to
communicate that to other people. I really love Jim T a lot as we all
should, and I feel that his testimony regarding how he got saved is by
far one of the most important messages that people should hear. I
however feel that we should pray of Jim in order that God continues to
transform his life in incredible ways; moreover, despite what I think
about his perceived short comings theologically speaking I know that
he loves God more than most anyone else that I know with the exception
of a few people whom are on this news group. Overall, the fact that
Jim T is not hear anymore because he "removed himself" makes it very
difficult at best for us to offer our services to him, so all that we
can do is to pray for him.
