Hi,

I suggested to work that we donate to Jenkins.

I got the following feedback:
1. Donations only accepted in dollars - this means more work and
scrutiny by central accounts
2. All credit card purchases are scrutinised
3. Setting Jenkins up as a supplier on our financial system is not a
cost free exercise
4. Our system is setup to work primarily with a purchase order and invoice

So I have donated in a private capacity (I use Jenkins for my own
software as well as work's).

https://co.clickandpledge.com/advanced/Receipt.aspx gives the product
as "Software in the PublicI"
which is a bit odd.

It would be really nice if I got a key which Jenkins understood and I
was able to put into the configuration, such that my installation of
Jenkins displayed a button or some additional styling which said
something like 'A paid up installation of Jenkins: Supporting Open
Source Software by paying for it'.

cheers
Tim

Great idea!

According to Debian (an SPI stablemate), it seems that the SPI already
has a partnership with a European association, ffis, where donations can
be made to a European bank account.

See http://www.ffis.de/Verein/spi-en.html

I wish I knew this before I made my credit card payment in dollars! ;)
If this is correct, this info definitely needs to be on the Jenkins
donation wiki page :)

Interesting. I would note that other donation options are listed here
http://www.spi-inc.org/donations/ although still they remain in dollars.

Maybe if you send them an email, the SPI (or the ffis) would be amenable
to sending invoices on-demand in response to donation "purchase orders"?

As above, Jenkins is part of "Software in the Public Interest" (SPI)
which explains the name. They're the ones handling the donations,
payment systems etc.

Maybe you can add an option to the Page Markup Plugin ;)

Regards,
Chris

PS. I notice that the general SPI donation page gives an option for
recurring donations that the Jenkins-specific page does not have:
https://co.clickandpledge.com/advanced/default.aspx?wid=34115

Is there a way of showing that on the Jenkins-specific page too?
