I used to use Drupal as a CMS.
I like Jease more, but there is one thing I feel realy useful in any
CMS and it is missing in Jease.
It is taxonomy+tags+ierarchical selection functions+search intergrated
with taxonomy filters.
You can create a taxonomy and use it to generate a catalogue or
ierarchical filters of content.

That would be fine to create such ierarchical filtering.

Hi,

can you describe how such a feature should look like within Jease?
Just give me some examlpes or use-cases, so I can understand the scope
of your request. I've just read a little bit about Drupal Taxonomies,
but up to now I'm not sure if such a feature needs to be implemented
on core level. Maybe you can toy a little bit with Properties and see
if we can provide such feature with maybe an additional property?

Cheers, Maik

I would prefer to see a vocabulary type of content.
First I would create vocabularies and fill it.
Then I'd assign taxonomy elements to contents (news, text, etc) as
tags or in other way.
To have groups of elements inside each vocabulary would be perfect.

It is quite a useful feature since you can assign lots of tags to an
article to filter articles, automatically generate menus or
hierarchical selection of content, or conditional filtering of
automatically generate catalogs on the fly.

Just have a look at on of taxonomy module that generated a catalog
from taxonomy elements.

This is a feature that attracts developers of any content: from
bloggers' articles to shop-cards. And btw that feature of filtering
blog posts by dates, months and years can also be implemented as a
taxonomy.

Personally I need to receive a set of articles by a few filters, some
of them are not elements, but groups. And then I need to have a simple
catalog with numbers of elements inside each group.

There is another example of using taxonomies

creating some kind of hierarchical vocabulary within Jease should be
easy to achieve with a folderish "Term" content object. Managing your
vocabulary with the CMS would be easy. Together with a Factory and
scripted properties it should be possible to attach multiple tags to
content objects. If I find some time in the upcoming weeks, I will
play a little bit with this idea, but I can't make any promises at the
moment, because I'm very short of time.

Can you create an issue in the tracker (maybe with a link to this
thread) so I don't forget it?

Hi, Maik.

I noticed that you must be busy.
Nevermind, it can wait.

I've created a new issue.

Hi, Mike!

Which version are you going to implement the feature in?

this kind of feature should land in 3.0, but I don't have any estimate
when it will be done. As I'm a little bit short on time at the moment,
I'm trying to polish 2.9 in the next weeks before I start working on
3.0.

I think that a taxonomy could be built with properties (and scripts as
providers) on top of existing Jease. Therefore I don't feel the
"pressing need" to implement this feature at core level in 2.x at the
moment. 3.0 will be a different story...:-)

Hi, Maik.

Do you have any ideas on this matter?

Hi,

no, not at the moment. As I've written earlier, it should be
straightforward to build a "tag" system with Scripts and a Factory.

As I'm not totally convinced about the use-cases for a "tag" system,
if I'm going to implement this at all at the core level. If anyone
needs additional hooks to integrate a "tag" system, I'm willing to
provide them of course.

Cheers, Maik
