Shashi-Wiki
Thanks, Hiroshi! That is very helpful information, I
think.
Do you think we should put this information on the Shashi
wiki? Perhaps you could add it to the Template page -- in a new heading
such as <Getting Started> --

Hi
Ken,
I usually make new pages in the following way.
1. Make a
new page with Japanese (kanji + kana) title. (e.g. http://library.osu.edu/wikis/shashidb/index.php?title=%E3%81%82%E3%81%99%E3%81%8B%E8%A3%BD%E8%96%AC&redirect=no);
Write #redirect=Aiueo, and [[category:shashi(J)|あいうえお]]
2.
Then save the page, and you'll find Aiueo in red. Click it and create a new
page in Roman alphabet. In this way, the Japanese page and Roman alphabetical
page are connected.
3. Many companies have English names, and I make a
page for it and redirect it to Roman alphabet pages.
In short, Roman
alphabetical pages (as in library record) are the core of all the pages.
Japanese pages and English pages are connected by the code "#redirect=xxxxxx"
For adding Pitt
category, just add [[category:Pitt]] on the bottom, and it
adds the page to Pitt category. When you click Pitt on the bottom, it jumps to
Pitt category. Now I use the categories (a) the library (i.e. OSU), (b) Shashi(J) for Japanese titles, (c) Shashi(R) for Roman alphabet, (d) Shashi(E) for English, (e) Nikkei
classification (e.g., Pharmaceuticals etc.), and (f) Nagao bunko
classification (e.g., F-34:医薬品製造業).These categories are linked by writing
[[category:xxxxxx]].
Other
basic rules are:
- Follow the conventions if any (though some pages are
under revision as they have English pages at the center).
- As for internal
link (i.e., link to other wiki pages) use double brackets, [[xxxx]]
- As
for external link (i.e., link to other websites), use single brackets,
[xxxx].
- Additional information on Wiki Syntax can be found elsewhere,
like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_edit
I hope this
is not too confusing. Let me know if you need further help.

Hi
Ken --
You can add a new page by doing a search on the exact term of
the title of the new page. Be careful -- for example, because it will
be the exact new title.
As for identifying it with Pitt's
collection, you can use a category at the bottom.
You can
learn how to do this by looking at how another page was constructed -- see
the tabs at the top of various pages -- you can see the code.
I am
copying this email to my graduate assistant, Hiroshi Shima. He can
give you some more advice.
Looking forward to working with you
-- please don't hesitate to email me again.
