Currently, there are a few inconsistencies in ShashiWiki Title pages,
and we need a guideline for consistency and easy search by users. The
followings are the problems I can see in the current ShashiWiki
convention.
(1) Whether or not to use Kabushiki Kaisha in the title page.
Following the library convention, it is better to use the full title
including 'Kabushiki Kaisha,' but so far, many pages don't include it
since it will cause confusion in Shashi(R) list under か section.
(i.e., Kabushiki Kaisha xxxx will be all in the same section
regardless of their company name.)
Suggestion:
(a) If we follow the library convention, Kabushiki Kaisha should be
included, and another page without Kabushiki Kaisha is created and
that page is categorized by Shashi(R) for a list.(Not necessarily by
the same contributor, though; only if you are concerned with the Shashi
(R) list...) In this case, we may need to think about the titles like
Zaidan Hojin, Shadan Hojin, etc.
(b) Kabushiki Kaisha (Zaidan Hojin, Shadan Hojin, etc.) is excluded
from all the titles; or at least for the companies starting with it
(though inconsistency remains).
(2) The use of diacritics (macron)
The library convention uses diacritics for Japanese elongated vowels,
and it is by far better to avoid confusion. However, due to
MediaWiki's limited function, users will not find the pages with
diacritics if they simply type without it.
Suggestion:
(a) We can make a title page with diacritics and redirect another page
without diacritics to it for users to find it.
(b) We do not use diacritics.
