Glenn,
How are you feeling? Is the dizziness going away? Hope things are
going better. I have had a few days to walk at lunch again. That has
been helpful. How is everyone else doing this week?

On Sunday I hit a Very Important Milestone, i.e., I'm below a certain
weight. I decided to go 5 lbs. below that and promptly had a party
with a bag of tortilla chips and a shaker of salt. So it may be
another month before I hit that new goal.

I've been riding enough and eating well and feeling strong.

How about everyone else?

The midsection is NOT cooperating, and I'm NOT happy!

Thanks Denise for your e-mail of concern. Thanks Shay and Deborah for the updates.

I had an MRI of the brain and it was normal. In a couple of weeks I see a neurologist. I have already seen the eye doctor and the dizziness is not related to the "floaters" that I have been seeing.

My general physician had thought that what I was seeing were not floaters but according to my eye doctor they were - just a little different form.

Anyway I still face dizziness immediately when I lie flat on the ground - after a few seconds it goes away though it will come back when I get off of the floor. It does make doing the floor work a little more adventurous - something I can do without.

I'm in the same rut - not losing weight but not gaining either. Hopefully that will change in September when we get one of our vacancies filled and I am not travelling so much.

Take care, everyone.

Yikes Glenn...take care of yourself!! As someone who experiences
dizziness from time to time, i know how crazy that can be! Good for u
for maintaining during such a hectic time for u..that is an
accomplishment in itself!

I'm trying to break thru my last plateau, but haven't been stressing
over it...it will happen sooner or later, but summer is short, and I'm
enjoying a few too many adult beverages..but loving every second of
that LOL.

Good for you Denise on your extra walks....I always feel better when I
get to work in more exercise.

Deb...woo hoo on hitting ur VIM! You'll be down those extra pounds in
no time I'm sure..and if not...it's OK as they are "extra in the
bank".

Shay...don't be so hard on yourself....that is our biggest detractor I
decided...love urself, and your midsection will cooperate!

I love this board still...I can't believe I've been away for so
long....WE ROCK!!!

Elizabeth, I love that you said, "Shay...don't be so hard on
yourself....that is our biggest detractor I
decided...love urself, and your midsection will cooperate!" That's
where I am. I beat myself up over my bike performance, but not my
weight or body's changing. I may never have my 27" waist again, but I
have the butt of a 12 yr. old boy, so what's not to celebrate?

You sound really comfy w/yourself, E, and that's the thing: To have
the goal, to keep after it, but recognize it's not the end of the
world if you don't reach your goal yesterday. Or, figure out what's
holding you back from your goal, and change your approach.

Keeping steady thoughts for Glenn. He's maintaining his
weight...something I struggle to do.

Well, I take issue with the "love yourself and your midsection will
cooperate" statement. I've been at a very comfortable level with
myself for over 2 years now. Myself. Not an image of what I should
be. Not a memory of what I once was. I am happy with what I am now
for me. So, when I notice changes in a direction that's not where I
had been going for quite a while and a direction that's not taking me
where I want to be, heck yeah, I'm unhappy with it. It means I'm
doing something I shouldn't and I need to correct the behavior. And I
know exactly what I need to do: a much smaller serving o ice cream in
the evenings and less frequent visit to Sheridan Frozen Custard!
That's it! Discipline.

I am not hard of myself anymore. I did that a long time ago; not
anymore. But I must be vigilant, cause it doesn't take much in the
way of food to slide back ... and I can't count on exercise to burn
the extra calories I take in. Those days are gone and will never come
back.

Hey Shay....I totally see your point, and it's definitely a good thing
to be proactive about changes you see, as we all know disaster can
strike when you're not paying attention! Good luck on your
modifications, and I hope that you see the results of your hard work.

It really is hard balancing all the messages we send ourselves and we receive from society in general regarding our body - particularly as we grow older.

One of the reasons I like this group is that everyone seems to have a pretty good head on her shoulders regarding just what she should do to keep good care of herself.

We spent yesterday loading up furniture from my mother's house in Conroe and transporting it to Austin. We have to unload it today. I am not looking forward to this at all!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
