I will read the article, but most of us "in the know" have known that
Google has done this for years. Perhaps their just now admitting to it
to gain an opportunity to make SOPA look dangerous to personal freedom,
or to finally gain entry into China - they are, after all, geek whores.

FW Musicians Pay Attention to Google's new universal Terms of Service:

"When you upload or otherwise submit content to our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content. Well,in truth it hasn’t been shelved and hopefully it won’t go away. They’ve shelved it since it has too much opposition. This may effectively shelf it for a time but I don’t think is will go away. The trouble is that Americans have traditionally been lax on enforcing our copyrights. Witness the copycat American guitars. How about the fake Harley’s from the Japanese manufacturers. We’ve at the same time created a worldwide criminal empire that does nothing but use and abuse any copyright law.

I've been sifting my way through the URLs you sent, as well as others
from other members, regarding the defeat of SOPA. This is a very sad day
for us all, and an absolute indication of just how corrupt and bought &
paid for our government is.

A Legacy of Continued Bad Behavior at Google

Google has the power to do almost anything it wants. Time and again, it takes actions that require apologies, and that skirt both the law and the standards of corporate behavior. If I am correct, the FTC is going to find significant abuses, the DOJ is going to have to act, and significant changes will need to be made to Google's governance structure.
