What are you using for a WebCam? and, more importantly, how is the
audio?
Most cameras I check out online seem to have built-in microphones,
most of which probably suck.
I actually have various microphones and a decent audio interface
hooked up to the computer here, so ideally, I'd love to be able to
defeat or bypass the audio coming from whatever WebCam I buy, and
send out playing samples that sound high-quality.

P.S. I should have specified that I'm on a Windows-based PC, in
case that makes a difference.

I suspect that there would be a way to point the computer to the camera for video and somewhere else for audio. But it might depend on the software. Good luck. I wish I could help more.

[I use a Mac, and I simply use the system built into the computer -- works
fine]
