[jazz_guitar] Ronnie Scotts

Hi there,
 
Finally made my pilgrimage to Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London. It was a random thing, not to see anyone specific. I saw Miguel Zenon, who is a sax player with piano, drums and double bass, and Gyneth Herbert, a singer with bass, guitar, drums. I was sat right up against the stage which was brilliant and I spent the entire night craning my neck to watch the guitar player (a lefty) who was stood not more than three feet away. The whole time he played it was on an acoustic but with a whole case of pedals which he used all the time as far as I could see. The gal's songs were ok but loads of fun to see anyway. Zenon blew me away. Very much - I thought, anyway - in the Coltrane vein. And to think that I was sat where, mere months previously, Jeff beck had prowled the stage!!!!!!!!
