I have taken a look at the 3 samples for this book and it looks reasonably accurate as far as the notes played and the positions used.
Very unlike the transcription book of "Jazz Winds ..." which is a disaster. Too bad "Jazz Winds .." wasn't done as well since IMO the actual playing is much better.

Was Jazz Winds one of his projects also. I wasn't knocked out with
the selections on the latest offering.

Hello, Im the one who did the transcription book for velvet guitar. Thank you for your kind words about the book. I assure you it is 100 percent accurate, after I was done with everything, I spent a good month going over everything and slowing the music down to ensure it was correct.

Youre right about the playing on Jazz Winds - thats considered to be his best work. Im just a big fan of nice chord melodies myself, thats why I chose to do this album first. I am currently working on another transcription book that includes songs from both jazz winds and 'The incredible guitar of hank garland'. If you might be interested in that instead, let me know and I will keep you updated.

Mike,

I have already transcribed both of those albums, as well as the Newport album. Some nice alternate versions of a few of the Jazz Winds tunes.

I would be careful about claiming any transcription is 100% accurate.
I am as anal as anyone about getting transcriptions accurate, but I have found mistakes when revisiting some of my old transcriptions.
One tip I can pass on is to do your final verification at full speed;
there are too many weird noises that can mislead you at slower speeds.
For me, looping at full speed gives the best and fastest results.

Another member just asked for the chords in the head to Move. I'll give you first shot at it. Here's your chance to verify that 100% accuracy. :-)

Regards,
Steve

Yea I see your point about claiming to be accurate and I apologize if I came off as being arrogant. Its just that after I finished the transcriptions, I spent probably a good month going over everything to make sure it was right, I slowed everything down to the point where you can hear him strum each note of each chord. And youre right about playing things back at full speed, sometimes you get misled from hearing things slowed way down like that. Im too busy with other transcriptions to look at'move' right now, but I would like to transcribe some songs from his other two jazz albums in the near future. Take care :)

For anyone who is interested, the velvet guitar books is on sale for $20, which is over half off the original price. Email me if you are interested.
