Hello everyone!

The Java Posse Roundup 2010 will be March 16th to 19th in Crested
Butte, CO, with free JVM language day on the 15th dedicated to the
various language options on the JVM (coding dojos, birds of a feather,
etc.). Sign up details will be posted soon!

For those that are seriously considering attending, it would be a good
idea to begin organizing lodging groups and looking for houses early.
It will probably be a little crowded there that week, and the housing
might get a little tight.

As someone new to the roundup (but who totally wants to come this
year!) how do we do that, exactly? I'm curious about both the
matching up and the finding houses bits...

If past years are any indication, the fellows will get a sign up page up
on javaposse.com. Once you're registered, you'll be invited into a
google group set up specifically for logistics around all things
Roundup.

I'll be organizing another house this year.

I'm also looking forward to pricing details! How much is the roundup itself, and about how much have people spent on housing in past years? I probably won't be able to attend, but I'm trying…

Good questions. Also: Can this be wife-friendly? I want to totally
geek out programming, but I'd like to bring the wife along for company
(and to get her a mini vacation). Do others bring their wives? Is
there anything for them to do?

If anyone needs some more people for their house or is interested in
sharing a house, I am interested in attending the round-up this year
and I'd like to bring my girlfriend along. We'd like to front end the
trip a few days and arrive maybe Sunday. Let me know if you're
interested. THANKS!

Unfortunately this is just before EclipseCon and my time schedule does
not permit to join two Conferences directly after each other.

I'm very sorry that I will most likely miss your Roundup.

I'm sure that once the Java Posse puts up the registration page, the
google group link will become available to registrants. This will
allow people to:
. self-organize into houses
. ask questions about who's bringing spouses
. coordinate on transportation, etc.

People often meet up in the airports along the way (Denver, Dallas,
etc.). It's an amazingly hospitable group.

Hang in there. I think the registration page and accompanying
organizational group are coming soon.

Dianne (who ALWAYS looks forward to the Roundup)

I am a little unclear as to where the JPR2010 is going to be held.

Is it this place here: http://www.skicb.com/cbmr/groups/meetings-conferences.aspx
?

The sessions are held at The Queen of All Saints Parish Hall at 401
Sopris in Crested Butte. It's a very informal space with a few rooms
including the much coveted comfy couch room in the basement.

It's close to Camp4Coffee which according to the coffee drinkers in the
group is 'da bomb' whatever that means ;)
