Mahathir 'drunk with power', sacked deputy says
Dr Mahathir has become "drunk with power" and lost his sanity,
according to Anwar.
"In his desperate attempt to cling to power, he has no qualms about
using all instruments of government, the police and the judiciary to
serve his ends," Anwar said in handwritten notes smuggled out of jail
and published in Time magazine.
Dr Mahathir would be remembered for his "megalomania" which would
eventually destroy the prosperity he had brought to the country, the
former deputy prime minister said.
"My perception of his leadership is that he is drunk with power and
has lost all sense of rationality and sanity," he said.
Anwar said he was faring well in prison, where he is being held in
solitary confinement, and was buoyed by the support of his family.
