Some in this group (who aren't on the ils-di email list) might be interested in the updated recommendation draft that was just produced by the DLF ILS Discovery Interface Task Force. At this point, it is in final draft stage (aka, we don't anticipate any major changes).

Specific points of interest to this group might be:

  • GetAvailability functionality: We have outlined a URL template for this request, a set of required and optional response data elements, and 3 different metadata schemas that can be used to respond (a dlf:simpleavailability element, the NCIP ItemLookupRequest element, and the ISO Holdings <copyInformation> element).
  • Metadata schemas in general: We've done more work with this draft to suggest a framework for pulling together existing metadata schemas in a way that can bring 'expanded' information together in a single response (bibliographic, complex holdings, items, availability). Section 6.4.1 of the document discusses the different types of data and different possible schemas that could be used, as well as presents the outline for a framework to pull them together. The appendices give some examples of how the XML might look for specific titles.
