Subject: Locavore Kids - Please send to CHP Garden Committee

Kerry:

Would you please send out the following info to the CHP Garden Committee?  I talked with Jim Wilmoth, and he said that Kay Barlow  will offer discounted rates or donations from groups of children and staff attending from community agencies.  The normal cost is  $10 per family yet Kay is glad to have groups come at a much discounted rate.

Locavore Kids will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Barlow’s Mill, 369 W. Main Street, Fredonia from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  This is a  family and community  event   with   tours of  Kay Barlow and Jim Wilmoth’s organic gardens,  fruit and veggie food prep demos, taste testing,   composting, etc.

a..  Food demonstrations - cooking with kids, sample delicious results
b.. Taste tests & samples - compare fresh picked with grocery store produce
c.. Garden & vineyard tours - vegetable, wildflower, juice and wine grapes
d.. Sustainable farming practices - composting, rain barrel demonstrations
The normal fee for the event is $10 per family yet Kay Barlow is eager to have community agencies bring children and is happy to talk with organizations about a  small donation  in lieu of the normal fee.   To learn more about the event and see photos, visit  – www.barlowsmill.com.  Phone #673-9020.
