It appears that almost everyone on this list except me & Bill Woodroffe have disconnected, but what the heck, I'm going to post the link above anyway.

 

If anyone still cares about the Bay, perhaps you read my previous emails re: plans to cut down hundreds of trees at the headwaters of the bay. The Eastern Queens Alliance people, a phenomenal bunch, are smart enough to see the handwriting on the wall & realize that the next step will be expansion of the runways. As if on cue, Crains' announced that a former public relations chief of PANYNJ has been tapped by Joe Sitt to head a new non profit devoted to "improving" local airports.

 

For those of us who live in southern Brooklyn, the name "Joe Sitt" sucks all of the air out of the room. Sitt is a member of Brooklyn's ultra wealthy Sephardic community and is responsible for some of the heartbreak of the shiny, glitzy "new" Coney Island. Sitt will knock down anything that doesn't move, while proposing mega scale developments. He is also famous for buying up large amounts of property, then flipping it to the highest bidder. Sitt demolished a number of old historic buildings in Coney Island & when everyone hollered about the vacant lots, put up a decrepit flea market. History means nothing to him, the environment means nothing, people mean nothing, neighborhoods mean nothing. The only thing he cares about is making mega bucks and he is very, very, very successful at doing so. If he is getting involved in airports, you can be sure that he smells some major plans.

 

Let us not forget that JFK would like nothing better than to expand the runways further into the Bay. Sitt is the type of guy who has the expertise, the money and the political connections to make this happen.

 

Wake up & smell the coffee before it is too late. There is no one to protect the Bay, but the people. NPS will gleefully turn it over to anyone for a pittance.
