JalBhoomi - Land fights and water fights will increasingly define Indian politics and the public agenda of Indian politicians. The issues of global warming, irreversible climate change, costs of environmental degradation will increasingly be burdened on the Indian poor and rural economy dependant population - not covered under Sixth Pay Commission, jetsetting China fascinated mentors / sultans of Indian global interests, and highs / lows of Indian Sensex. The focus of Indian environmental NGO's / think tanks will shift from foreign funding to advocacy of collective rights and evolving skeletal protective legal and sustenance frameworks. This JalBhoomi group is to discuss issues governing this shift in focus of relevance of Indian democracy. The challenge for central Indian coalition politics will be unique and unprecedented, as India Inc is in a hurry while the laggards feel excluded from the media euphoria and prepare indigenous lassos for the high and mighty. They refuse to fade into oblivion and ride away into the Western sunset like the Hollywood cowboys. Let us examine what are the political options for this new polity. Which groups are going to succeed in defining emerging definitions of
patriotism and national interest ?
