Hi,

it appears that clicking around in panes changes the order the select next/prev pane commands/keybindings use for switching between panes.

This is really very annoying :)
What I'm looking for is to reproduce a workflow I would have with dwm (or a similar dynamic wm): have a mostly fixed number of terminals arranged in a simple layout, and use the keyboard to switch between them.

So far, I create a bunch of split panes in iTerm2 and switch between them using keybindings - and this works well. However, when I click inside the window (e.g. to restore the focus), the pane order is disrupted, and the keyboard commands no longer switch to the pane I would expect them to. I have to click in all the panes in the desired order to restore normalcy.

I'm sure there must be a better way than this :)
(Could we have a configuration option for this? Or is there a trick?)

Thanks,
 Mate

Currently it's meant to work like cmd-tab/cmd-shift-tab, which works
as long as you're not clicking willy nilly. You can navigate with
cmd-opt-arrow, which is stable. I agree it would be useful to have a
next/prev pane key whose order is set, but it's not clear what the
right order would be. Any thoughts on what would make the most sense
for you?
