ignore certain part of screen (for activity detection)

I have an application OIaccess via iTerm2, which has a status bar that
constantly updates a clock.

Of course, every minute that triggers 'activity' on that screen, when
there was not really any activity.

I would like to be able to set iTerm2 to ignore a certain area of the
screen for purpose of activity detection (or maybe: ignore it as long as
it conforms to a given regex, in this case "\d{2}\;\d{2}"

Is that possible?
