Question
You have been asked by the editor of your school magazine to write an
article on the following topic:
Today's television
"A load of old rubbish" or
"More choice than ever before"?
Is today's television still good value for money?
Write your article for the magazine (around 120-180 words).
Television nowadays: just a warm place for your cat to sleep on?
"What's on tv tonight?" "Nothing". We all are getting used to this kind
of dialogue. It's a sad but widely agreeable truth. Should we give up
looking for worthwhile programmes? Or are still there reasons for
subscribing a tv account?
Some people are proud of not watching tv and it's often difficult to
blame them. The box is full of boring stuff, for instance never-ending
repeats of old movies. Even if you are lucky and find a brand-new
programme, it's surely a reality show. I don't like knowing embarrassing
details about strangers, one's family is challenging enough from this
point of view, isn't it?
On the other hand, modern technology allows us to watch lots of
channels, from foreign countries too, so that we can improve language
skills without making specific efforts. Moreover, customers have a great
power because they can support those few programmes which deserve
attention, simply by pressing a button.
To summarize, I think that enjoying tv is possible, not only for our
cats, but we need to be very careful in order to avoid rubbish.
