Ciao e grazie a tutti
vorrei validare il mio sito ( lo faccio per hobby non sono un webmaster
....) ma ho i seguenti dubbi:
1) è possibile farlo in locale (non ho spazio web lo comprero a breve)?
2) quando valido utilizzando il w3c inserendo il link del mio sito, valido
tutte le pagine del mio sito o solo la homepage?

Sto cercando di capire che intendi con "farlo in locale".

Se usi il servizio di validazione del w3c no chiaramente, devi accedere
appunto al loro servizio, se vuoi usare delle applicazioni standalone
(se ci sono) puoi farlo in locale.

Lo spazio web lo danno anche gratis.

Solo la pagina che specifichi, per il validatore sarebbe impossibile
fare altrimenti.

In realtà con l'estensione web developer toolbar[1] di Firefox
puoi validare anche le pagine in locale.

Il comando "Validate Local HTML" (Ctrl+Shift+A) spedisce
la pagina corrente al validatore del W3C e da lì vedi il
risultato. E' comodissimo.

Ci sono anche altre estensioni ancora più specifiche,
che ora però mi sfuggono.

Ti valida l'HTML locale, ma la validazione la fa via http (quindi non in
locale)

Ce ne sono varie, io uso questa:
https://addons.mozilla.org/it/firefox/addon/249
che appunto supporta la validazione diretta nel browser
(ti mette anche il semaforo quindi vedi sempre quando una pagina è
valida), quindi funziona anche se non sei connesso.

Per i css firebug rulla

ha un flag che consente di validare tutte le pagine del sito

Sia il wdg validator che il w3c validator si possono installare su una
macchina locale (e perché no, virtuale): per diverse distro linux
esistono i pacchetti.

E' un eufemismo, un client non può conoscere tutte le pagine di un sito
web.

Caso banale: ci sono pagina a.html ed una b.html, a non contiene
riferimenti b, non c'è directory listing, non ci sono mappe per robot.

Vero, cmq credo si basi sui link contenuti nella url che passi.
