Abortion
in Poland has declined from a peak of about 260,000 under communist
rule in 1963 to only 328 in 2007, a decline of nearly 99.9%. . . . The result has been a dramatic improvement in women's health and a spectacular decrease in harmful premature births.
...this is due to the powerful influence of "THE CHURCH." But I
wonder whether or not the growth of the Hare Krishna Movement within
Poland after the fall of communism may also have had something to do
with it.
Statistics show that birth control and
especially abortion are very harmful to a woman's health. In the USA,
for example, the increased use of contraception and the increased
rate of abortion may be part of the reason why the life expectancy of
women has declined much more rapidly than for men. More evidence that
Srila Prabhupada was right when he said that "women's liberation" is simply a
trick by the men to exploit women for their own selfish sense
gratification! :-(
...the abortion rate in Poland has not actually declined significantly, but has been driven underground by it's having been made illegal. Thus, the actual number of abortions no longer show up on the official statistics.
