my req for help didnt appear in the forum yet, but i solved it (i
think)
I found out that if in a console session I launched an X program, it
worked and could be accessed by upper right X button (so I dont see
why I should create a configuration selecting VNC instead of Shell).

Back to another problam, can I? While in shell my bluetooth kbd works
well (Ipad2 here). Instead, in any editable window under X there is no
output at all - I have to switch it off and open the virtual kbd - is
it a known bug?
While I'm at it (the small keyboard and cursors button under X), I'm
having a hard time understanding how to use many of its
functionalities: seriously guys, your program is wonderful, but the
documentation is really lacking!
Point me to a well, in-depth written doc, if you want your 5th
star ;-)

I'm confused. Are you trying to use the terminal, X11 or VNC?

Hi Dean!
I am trying to launch some X programs (my fault, I discussed my
problem in two separates messages).
So I thought that the correct setup was SSH/VNC. But doing this doesnt
work: I am asked my password, then I am immediately at the X screen of
issh (the one with the keyboard/cursors widget), which remains empty.
Pressing 'active connections' I dont see any, so I dont even know if I
am really connected - I didnt see any evidence of a log window, by the
way.
Using instead SSH/Shell I am able to connect. I can launch some X
programs (a popup invites me to the X window), though as I said I am
able to use my bluetooth kbd on them, just the virtual one.
After experimenting though, I also discovered that many programs give
errors that make issh disconnect, e.g. Openoffice, gimp, okular...
