On your computer:

1) Ensure your computer is connected to the same network to which your
iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad will be connecting. iSRS and iSRS Sync
uses port 8080, so ensure any firewalls allow this port through or
disable your firewalls.
2) Run iSRS Sync.
3) From iSRS Sync, you can select the databases, images, and sounds
you want to sync.

On your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad:

1) Enable Wi-Fi on your device and connect to your Wi-Fi network.
2) Run iSRS.
3) In the Main view screen, press "Open". In the Open view screen,
press "Sync".

At this point, iSRS and iSRS Sync should automatically connect to each
other. If it still says "Waiting", try closing and starting sync
again in iSRS or restart iSRS Sync.

Once connected, you should have the option to upload or download files
in iSRS.

Pressing "Upload" will transfer your databases from iSRS to your
computer and overwrite existing databases on your computer (you will
be warned if you are attempting to overwrite with an older database).
Any databases in iSRS that do not exist yet on your computer or have
not been added yet to the list of databases you want to sync in iSRS
Sync will be placed in the same directory as the iSRS Sync executable
in Windows or in your Downloads folder in your Home folder in Mac OS
X.

Pressing "Download" will transfer your databases, images, and sounds
from your computer to iSRS and overwrite any existing databases in
iSRS (you will be warned if you are attempting to overwrite with an
older database). If you currently have a database opened that's being
updated, the database will automatically re-open in iSRS once you've
exited the Sync view screen. To remove images and sounds in iSRS,
simply remove them from your list in iSRS Sync and they will be
removed from iSRS the next time you press "Download".

If you have Mnemosyne installed on your computer and you want to keep
in sync the log.txt file, simply click on "Sync Log File" in iSRS Sync
and logging will be enabled the next time you press "Download" in
iSRS. iSRS and iSRS Sync will keep the log.txt in sync afterwards
when you upload or download in iSRS.

Final note, if you're attempting reconnect iSRS and iSRS Sync
immediately after closing the Sync view screen, you might have to
either restart iSRS Sync a few times or close and start "Sync" in iSRS
a few times. You can also wait a few minutes and then you should be
able to reconnect without closing iSRS Sync.

How do you run a txt file?

Hi, it's actually a .zip file, Google Groups has temporarily disabled
zip files. Rename to a .zip and extract it.

iSRS Sync only supports Windows and Mac. How do I sync between iSRS
and Linux? The "old" web interface seems to be gone and with v1.5 I'm
no longer able to sync, which breaks iSRS for me!! Is there another
way to sync on non-Mac/Windows platforms?

iSRS Sync for Linux is on the to-do list.

In the meantime, you should be able to run the Windows version using
WINE (http://www.winehq.org). It would be appreciated if you could
report back on your experiences with running iSRS Sync with WINE. If
it doesn't work, I'll try to get out at the very least a command-line
version of iSRS Sync quickly for Linux users.

Unfortunately, I have never upload any database successully from my
ipod touch(3 generation, ios4.0)

There are some .xml files in my ipod touch, I want to transfer them to
my macbook, I did it step by step, but there is nothing in the
database when "sync completed".

Hi,

When you were syncing, was the database in the list of databases in
iSRS Sync or not yet added? If it was in the list, then the updated
database will go to the path you selected while it will go to your
Downloads folder in your Home folder if it is not in the list.

To help me debug, could you tell me what is the path to your Downloads
folder (Example: /Users/<User Name>/Downloads/)? Thanks.

Appreciate the link to find the ISRS Sync file.

What will be the difference to how I currently upload my mnemosyne database to my I-phone, using the transfer protocol port 8080?

If I download version 1.5, do I "have" to install ISRS Sync as well?

Thanks

Hi Bob,

Here are the links to iSRS Sync -- they are also available in the
"Files" section of this Google Group.

iSRS Sync For Mac OS X
http://isrs-support.googlegroups.com/web/iSRS+Sync+For+Mac+OS+X.txt?gda=FOs7Ok0AAACmVnQlwX4UTigXs30B2RTlEpm2ifTCY7aRGUWSM2bS1CpAMSMisV1YYZz9Gb9sauL6KKNfY2wk3UWqgXEKdfD-5Tb_vjspK02CR95VRrtmeQ

iSRS Sync For Windows

Right-click (Control + mouse click on a Mac) and select "Save As...".
Then rename the .txt to a .zip and extract.

Yes, starting from version 1.5, you must use iSRS Sync to transfer
files.

Best Regards,
iSRS Support

I'm having some trouble connecting with the Sync. It gets hung up on
the 'waiting' even though Ive disabled all firewalls and opened the
appropriate ports. I have also tried re-opening iSRS sync and the app
as well numerous times, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Which version of iSRS are you using? Which version of iSRS Sync are
you using? (Windows or Mac)
Try powering off your device and powering it on again. Have you tried
syncing on a different network?

I'm using the windows version of ISRS Sync, and version 1.51 of iSRS.
I have tried powering on and off, closing and re-opening iSRS Sync,
and even re-installing both the app and Sync. I have tried it on
another network, and it worked instantly. I have the appropriate
ports open and have even tried taking down all firewalls. I restored
my router to factory settings and re-updated to current firmware. I
cant seem to find the problem. Any ideas you might have?

Hi BLDave, what's the make and model of your router? Are there any
options in your router settings that may be blocking broadcast
packets? (While we're troubleshooting this issue, note that you can
transferring databases over USB with iTunes under File Sharing
section)

I have iSRS v.1.5 and the sync v1.0 program. When I try to sync my
files on windows, all I get is "waiting".
Is there another way to add .mem files to iSRS through a USB? I saw
something in one of the threads about putting it in your shared
folder, but could you give me a step by step breakdown on how to
transfer a .mem file through a USB to iSRS?
Thanks

Hi,

For steps on how to do file transfer over USB and iTunes, see the
article below:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/9.2/en/32636.html

As for using iSRS Sync:

- Make sure you disable any firewalls you may have or allow port 8080
- Also check your router settings to see if broadcast packets are
allowed
