Well, for some time now, scientists in many (most?) fields did not have to
learn Latin. My father, for example, has a Ph.D. in Immunology (a field
of Biology) and does not know Latin. He knows English very well, though,
and a lot of the ongoing research in Biology is done in English.

I agree about the fact that info-tech workers should learn English, but
I've seen some people who are tech workers with really bad one.

One should note that in many countries students are still taught Latin in
some high-level high schools/etc.
