*The previous announcement referred to Islandora 11.3.0 in the subject
line, but the new version is actually 12.1.0. Sorry for the
confusion!*

We are pleased to announce the release of Islandora 12.1.0!

You can check out the release notes and download all available modules
from http://islandora.ca/download, or test drive the release at
http://sandbox.islandora.ca.

Islandora 12.1.0 features a beta version of the new Video Solution
Pack, along with improvements to the Collection Manager, Harvester,
and Solr modules. A number of bugs have also been fixed in this new
version. You can read about all the changes in the release notes:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/ISLANDORA6121/Release+Notes+and+Downloads.

The documentation is undergoing updates to match this version of
Islandora. You can find it here:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/ISLANDORA6121.

Please report any issues to the google developer
(http://groups.google.com/group/islandora-dev) or users
(http://groups.google.com/group/islandora) lists, or on our JIRA
(https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/ISLANDORA).

Please read the documentation carefully before updating as this
version may cause issues with previously installed versions of
Islandora - particularly versions released prior to Islandora 11.2.0.
If you encounter an undocumented issue, please let us know so that we
can help build and document a complete upgrade path.

Hi Leandro,

Have you installed the Video Solution Pack dependencies? Instructions
on how to install them can be found here:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/ISLANDORA6121/Chapter+12+-+Installing+Solution+Pack+Dependencies#Chapter12-InstallingSolutionPackDependencies-VideoDependencies.

Hi David, I now installed all the dependencies and everything goes well, also i got to de "detailed list of content" and i see there that thw video is well ingested. The only strange thing is that i cannot view the video in the repository, i´m getting this message:

The video you uploaded is currently being processed. Please check back shortly.

Any idea???

Hi Leandro,

When you look at your Detailed list of Content you should see 3
derivative video files: MKV, MP4, and OGG. If you don't see some or
all of those derivatives, there may be something wrong with your
dependencies.

Go to Administer > Site Configuration > Islandora Video Solution Pack
Admin and check the paths to your dependencies. If any of these are
wrong the derivatives won't be created.

If your derivatives are present and the paths to the dependencies are
correct, let me know and we can troubleshoot further.

Hi David, when I see mi detailed list of content I have the MP4 and the OGG file, but not  the MKV file.

And also i don´t see anything in  Administer > Site Configuration , i don´t have any "Video Solution Pack
Admin" there.

The process i did to install this module was to download the video folder of the site, then go to modules and enable the video module, I finalyy installe all the dependencies as you told me in this email. Any idea of what colud be the problem??

Hi Leandro,

Go back to your modules page and re-save it (just click 'Save
Configuration' at the bottom without making any changes). This will
create the menu link to 'Islandora Video Solution Pack Admin' under
Site Configuration. For some reason this link doesn't get created when
you first enable the module, but re-saving your modules page will
create it.

What filetype is the video file you originally ingested?

Hi Leandro,

Even though the file you're ingesting is already in MP4 format, I think JW Player is looking for an MP4 derivative (which would have a different DSID) and it's not finding it because FFMpeg isn't converting your original MP4 into a derivative MP4. I'll have to look into this.

In the meantime, can you send me the file you're working with? If it's small you can just email it to me at dwi...@upei.ca. You could also try converting your file to another format on your desktop (say AVI or MOV) and try ingesting it again.

We're still working on supporting a wider variety of video compression formats - unfortunately, this is tricky and requires a lot of testing. So I appreciate your feedback :)

Hi David, ok i´m sending you the file to that address. What is strange is that i converted the mp4 file to ohter formats and everithing is the same result, i also download the countdown.mp4 video that you have in islandora.ca virtual box, i tried to ingested and im getting the same error. It seems as a problem wiht jwplayer cause if i ingested a video, everything goes well, and i see .mp4, .ogg and .mkv file but in the preview i´m still getting the error:

The video you uploaded is currently being processed. Please check back shortly.

I would appreciate any help. I´m sending the file in other email.

Hi Leandro,

Yes, this would appear to be an issue with your installation of JW Player - I ingested the video into http://sandbox.islandora.ca and it plays just fine. I've attached a screenshot of the list of Datastreams; do you see two MP4 files in your list of Datastreams? If you only see one, there may be a problem with FFMpeg.

Let me know if you're still having problems.

Hi Leandro,

Both the audio and video solution packs can use the same version of JW Player, but this needs to be JW Player 5. You probably already have version 5 installed, but you need to make sure that the JW Player 5 module (part of SWF Tools) is enabled.

If the JW Player 5 module is enabled but it's still not working for video you might need to upgrade your JW Player library. Instructions for doing so can be found on the page I linked to in my last message.

Hi David, i was reviewing the video dependecies, i did again this step

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list && sudo apt-get -q update && sudo apt-get --yes -q --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get -q update

and now everything goes well and i´m watching my videos. thanks for your support!!!

I can tell you some other thing i noted: in the islandora sandboz i tried to ingesti a video compres in a .zip file
and i getting an error, just try it if you want.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi Leandro,

I'm glad you got it working. The video solution pack won't accept ZIP files - it will only accept MOV, QT, AVI, and MP4 files. Some of those filetypes will also fail since not all codecs are supported - but we're working on that :)

David
