It was good linking up again on Saturday, and I hope it is the 1st of many more to come. The credit must go to Oye for organising everything, thanks again.

 

Tunde- You have raised a valid point in that the legal status of the ISI has to be established before we can start anything at all.

 

I do agree that we should (eventually) bring all the 'splinter ex-isi groups' under one banner- otherwise there is no ALUMNI. God willing, we will be able to reach some concensus as to how best to proceed. We do have to meet in Ibadan at some point.

 

Diran - well done for coming up with a suggetsion to drive this forward. We should all take example from your good deeds.

 

Hassey - Well done for everything. I will add my name to the alumni site, and hopefully others will do the same.

 

Tolu- I will scan the photo (of ou and 'your girls') some time today.

 

I on my own part will try an get in touch with Tive & Geronimo, who were running the (now defunct) ex-isi site, to find out what they did with the database. In the meantime well done for a good turn out and god-bless. Hope you all have a safe trip back

I couldn't agree more.  It was as though the years just rolled back.

 

We all really have a lot to thank God for and occasions like the one we just had bring that point home with force.  I pray that all our wishes come through and true.

 

I will take up the challenge of ascertaining the legal status of ISI and determining who owns and runs the school now.  This is a necessary first step to any remedial measures we may decide to take to revive the school.  I'll post my findings on to the website and we can then take it from there.

This is a big thank you to all that made it out to 805 this past weekend, (Eku gbogbo ire) a yoruba greeting for everything.  Hope you all have a safe trip back to wherever you came from, and we all look forward to doing this again, and doing our individual best to include everyone across all sets, those before and after us.

 

A lot would like to see more come out of this than just a "come and chop"  therefore we all have to pitch in.  We might want to use Yemisi Haastrup's website (Yemi kindly post the address for us again) as a beginning, we can all go there and register, we should try to contact as many of the ex-students as possible, and have them do so also, so that we will have a united front.  We should begin looking at what the problem is and come up with meaningful solutions, starting with individuals that live in Nigeria taking the lead and finding out the legal status of the school, how deep the problems are, what are the root causes of the problems etc.

 

It is only then that we can begin to find solutions, these solutions must be carefully thought out, taking everything into consideration.  This cannot be hurried.

 

Meanwhile I yearn to do this again maybe once a year (the come and chop that is)  it was fabulous to see old faces and even some that I didn't know and that didn't know me, we all had a common bond and it showed, talk to you soon.  I love you all, kind regards Oye Alle.

So sorry I couldnt make it, it was never going to be possible but I enjoyed getting us going and look forward to the Yankee people being mobilised. I also had an apendectomy just before so I was even grounded from domestic travel.
