No ZeroConfig?

I just tried to access my MBP using the *.local domain for ZeroConfig/
Bonjour and it did not work. An explicit IP did work so it should
not be a firewall issue. Has anyone gotten this to work? I would
rather not use static IPs within my local network just to allow
iPhone access.
