Hi people !

Just for you all to know about my last epic fail : CSS3 @font-face property on iPhone.
No suspens: not supported :(
See a screenshot here http://twitpic.com/vcr7o

At least none of you in this mailing-list will loose any time to try it :)

Hi again !

This time i'm back wit ha good news: it works :)
Safari Mobile does support neither OpenType (.eot), TrueType (.ttf) nor WebOpenFontFormat (.woff).
The only font format supported is SVG. Good news: Firefox supports it too.

You can check it out here: http://www.remi-grumeau.com/lbas/iui/ and press "custom font" (source code included)
Notice that it actually sucks a lot cause the same font is 14kb or 20kb in TTF/EOT/WOFF, where SVG will cost you 120 kb …

So, use it only if no other alternative is available (an image file for example)

Cheers,
Remi

If anyone needs paid assistance, I will be willing to help.
Give me any TTF or PFB font and I will give you the code to make it work on iPhone.
You can then use my code to make any font appear on the iphone properly at any size (using CSS and Javascript).

Hi Sajid,

For font generation, FontSquirrel give a free webtool to convert a font in all @font-face formats:

TTF is ok on Safari but not on Safari Mobile. If you have a JS script that enable TTF support on Safari Mobile, i would be please to see a demo :)
