Here is a to do list for the Kosher iPhone application. Important: - Search for Monsey in Anywhere, should we add Spring Valley options? - Right now, you can search for places near you (which uses the GPS) or search for a specific zip code or city. Can you make it so you can search for things near a specific zip or city? For example, I might be in 21209 and not realize (if I'm from out of town, which is when this app is the most helpful) that 21215 is right nearby, so all those restaurants are potentials as well. And with city names, if I'm visiting Dallas, I may have no idea that I should look for restaurants in Richardson, TX as well. But if I looked for restaurants near Dallas, all those would show up. I'd guess you could probably just reuse the code that finds places near you, just substituting the typed-in location for the GPS location, so it should be a pretty simple fix. - When a location is unrated, you should probably add something like "not yet rated" or based on your announced 2.0 - "Please rate" - When trying to remove a restaurant there should be a way to mark it as a duplicate (I just submitted Lev\\'s that is a dip of Levy's) if marked as a dupe, the user should be prompted to select what it is a dupe of - In the display of the town name in the list show "Lakewood, NJ, USA" instead of "Lakewood NJ US" - A minor bug- in the review, if you entered data in the "what did you order" and move to the next field, returning to this field will erase your previous data. This might impact other fields as well. - I know that it is not your data, but please add optional location description field so that non parsable data such as "corner of x.." will not interfere with the google maps parsing. - When there are parentheses after a street address, it throws off Google Maps (and also how close you are). For example, look at Accents Grill in Baltimore. Because after the address it says, "Greenspring Shopping Center," Google Maps can't find the address. So even if you're standing right outside the restaurant, it looks like it's .9 miles away, because it's going to the center of the 21209 zip code. Maybe add all those helpful (to the user) but not helpful (to Google Maps) addresses in their own field that don't get passed to Google Maps? Requests: - Every attempt to get a map results in a "did you mean...." from Google. This seems to be caused by passing US instead of USA. - Add filter options by "tags" and other sorting options - Rotate Prayers to make it larger font - the image for finding a kosher restaurant on the app is the safari icon. I felt that was a bit confusing. It should probably be replaced with the maps icon. - Link up to Kasuruts sites or db - in the ABCs list, can something like the narrow alphabet in the contacts list run along the right side to speed up scrolling? - The "Read Reviews" should probably show teh number of reviews already done, and be grayed out if not yet rated (with a popup "not yet rated" warning). - Tag list is truncated if there are too many. An example is "Kosher Cafe at the Wolfond Center.." The fonts get very small in an attempt to squeeze them in, but it still gets truncated. Just wrap it. - Kosher Symbols for Israel db at http://www.hechshers.info/kashauth/index.htm Done in 2.0 - Enable adding new kosher institutions via iPhone based form, when there is internet. - Enable sending edits to the database - Enable adding reviews, with comments - Search for spring valley, ny, no results found, why? (multiple keywords filter deeper) This is how it works:
