Hi
I have a P2-45 which my friend gave me for nothing
However he has taken it apart and lost the 2 clips which
hold the backplate on.These are the 2 aliminium coloured
clips which clip onto the 4 studs which come through
the PCB from the Backplate of the processor.
Therefore does anyone know if Intel can supply me with 2 new
ones or are there any places online that i can purchase them
Thaks in advance for any help Intel or anyone else gives me
Smiffy

Um... I'm assuming you have a P2 450?? If I understand you
correctly....

Buy a new cooler for about $9-20. The parts you lack are not part of an
OEM processor, they are part of the cooling fan assembly. Intel does
not supply any clips or such hardware as you describe... Their coolers
are affixed more or less forever if I remember correctly.

Hi
Yes it is a 450 P2
The clips are not from the cooler but are from the cpu
They are inside the cpu,you cannot see them unless you remove the black plastic cover.
Its a SECC version( i think the later ones were SECC2)

Then your best bet is to buy a toasted P2 from your local over clocking
nut for a buck or two.. I seriously doubt that Intel will market
"Internal" parts of any CPU... It's not a "field serviceable" unit..

Why would they pry off the cover anyway... Oh.. Perhaps he already HAS
a toasted CPU rolling around... :)

Good luck!

Hi
Thaks for the help all who replied
I think he took it off to put some heatsink compound between
cpu/cache chips and backplate.
(I don't know why cos it already has some there anyway)
I'l see if i can find a dead one for the clips as he assured me it works
so if i can get a dead one for silly money and try it i figure i will not
lose out much if it doesn't cos he gave me it for nothing
Ta once again Bob Deep and Bob Diepenbrock
