Hey all...

Just thought I'd catch up on a number of topics that have come up. I
have been lurking for some time with only a few actual posts. To
restate one of my earlier posts, it has been nearly euphoric
revisiting Yserbius. I swear, even many years later, this game is
quite an immersive experience! A heartfelt thanks again to all who
made this possible. I do wish we could get the server bursting with
activity...I'm one of the worst offenders with only time sporadically
to get on, and then only for a short bit. I'd love to schedule visits
to the dungeon regularly with a group, beginning with a new character.

When I played originally, I knew the company as Sierra Online, and I
think it would have been 1989-91ish. I really only ever played
Yserbius and was a total addict. (I think Yserbius seeded a life-long
gaming addiction to present-day with MMOs. I don't think Yserbius is
credited ever with being the first successful GUI-based MMO.) There
were several times when my parents caught me asleep at the keyboard in
the morning as they were heading off to work! Thanks to whoever
recommended Vitamnf...the installer was great and I finally hacked a
character that allows me to explore the dungeon more fully, along with
TWEdit. Great stuff. I don't think these were available back when I
played in the hayday (my hayday, anyway), but there was an exploit. I
can't remember all the details, but there was a room or area you would
enter with a dragon. If you had the right ring on you for the quest
and you equipped it in front of the dragon, you would get experience.
If you simply continued to equip it, your experience points would
continue to grow. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I never
considered myself a cheater, but I hammered this exploit and ended up
with a Knight and a Wizard at level 100...I think the people I played
with at the time were disappointed..heh.

Lots of stories about marriages through TSN. I can't imagine how this
possibly happened. I've never met more adolescent boys in all my years
online! I was Tarl Cabot in Yserbius mainly...I met a girl one time
named kajira...the only girl I ever actually interacted with in the
game, and even then for about two sentences. Guess I should have spent
some time outside of the dungeon! I was only good for the occasional
Red Baron game outside of Yserbius.

Anyway, this project rocks. Is it silly to dream of a day when the
server is bustling with peeps in the dungeon again?

Best,

Jerry

I remember both of you! Of course, I just about lived in the dungeon back then, what with working for Sierra OnLine in Tech support and then working as a SysOp when I wasn't at work. LOL. Some wonderful memories. I was living in North Fork when Sierra OnLine first started. For those of you not familiar with the area Nort Fork is a wide spot in the road about 14 miles from Oakhurst. At the time, Sierra OnLine was housed in the office building that later became Oakhurst's urgent care facility, long before they moved to the Old Barn. My first membership number was had written on the front of my membership packet. At that time it was in beta and only available to those of us that were witin Oakhurst's local calling area. I tried it a couple of times and wasn't reallly interested, particularly because I was completely unable to switch from one land to another. And this was long before Yserbius.

Several years later, I got a job with TSN in tech support and discovered the mountain. From then until the day they pulled the plug I spent every moment I could in the mountain. I had more characters than I can remember. I also met my spouse in the mountain and we have been together for 15 years now. Those of y'all who do remember, good to see you all agian.

Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to
let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; andwith eyes
fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carriedforth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future
generations.

I, too, was a sysop, INNZola/Cyrano. Got to visit Oakhurst one year and still have my RexWorld T-shirt for those of you who remember Rex.

We held a gathering here on the east coast back around 94. I really miss that crowd.

I've included a screen shot of Cyrano. I've still never found an in game identi-kit that matches the one we had.

Greetings,
Do you think that my INN t-shirt and mousepad are worth anything? I'd
like to get a new one since both are just about worn out!.

Golly! I have no clue. I have several t-shirts, mugs, diskettes and mouse pads (from both INN & TSN) as well as some Beta Bug Beaters fly swatters they gave us when we were beta testing stuff. Does anyone remember CyberWorld? I still have all those CDs they sent us.

Look around on eBAY or just list them as a seller and see if they will
sell.
